Project Review: Damages Blue-Ray Menu

Client: Sony Pictures via. The Cimarron Group.
Art Director: Brian Larson.
Project Date: Winter 2007

Brian and I had worked ona number of menus, and this one was a fun one. As with most Blue-Ray menus, the budget and time frame are small. To effectively do a 3D menu, it must be done very fast to keep the budget down. For Damages I was not a watcher so first I needed to get familiar with the look they wanted from the show. I examined the show footage and was able to design a Law Library based on the big super graphics used in the show[ in red], as well as basic colors and the Hewes Logo all around. I built, and animated the entire piece in one day of 8 hrs. It took one more 8 Hr day to finalize all aspects and make whatever adjustments were needed, and render out at the HD size.

Cheers, THOM
